Does the rear axle need to be supported when the truck is placed on a lift in the shop?

Hey Jonathan! The rear axle doesn't need to be supported on a lift with the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label # F2709 installed on your Sierra. The Firestone air bags and end plates are incredibly resilient, so this won't cause any damage.

Do you already have air bags on your truck or are you planning on adding them?

Airbags are already installed. Just planning on putting the truck in the shop for the first time since they have been installed. Thank you for the quick response!

That is a good question. I have two trucks with air bags on them, a 2010 Tundra that has had them on for 16 years and a 2024 Silverado HD ZR2. Neither truck has had any problems when on a lift with the air bags. However, there is this to know. With the onboard compressor and your truck on a lift the auto system will try to keep adding air to what ever setting you have it set for. So you need to set your bags to zero when you are putting the truck on a lift. I for got about this and when having work done on my Tundra the mechanic got tired of the pump running and chained the axel the the frame so that limited the movement and allowed the bags to build up the pressure I had them set to.
