AC Unit For 2020 InTech Flyer Explore Teardrop Camper That Sees Lots Of Rough Roads

Published 05/06/2026

Question:

I’ve got a 2020 InTech Flyer Explore that doesn’t have ceiling ducts, and it sees a lot of rough gravel roads getting out to campsite. We've had the covers and shrouds crack and even had the entire ac unit came loose one time. We also camp in summer heat, so I’m torn between staying smaller or stepping up in BTU. What would you recommend?

Good morning Chloey, for a small ductless camper that sees rough roads, I’d stay in the Roughneck line. The question is really whether you need the 13.5K Roughneck Mach 3 # CM68RR or the 15K Roughneck Mach 15 # CM88RR.

Since your camper is on the smaller side and your old unit mostly kept up, the # CM68RR is probably the smarter pick. If you’ve been fighting heat and want more cooling headroom, I’d move up to # CM88RR. For comparison, the more standard-travel versions would be the Signature Mach 3 # CM58RR and Signature Mach 15 # CM93RR, but for the kind of rough-road use you described, I’d keep the focus on the Roughneck pair. If you want, tell me what your old AC was rated for and I can help you choose between # CM68RR and # CM88RR.
