Availability of Longer Rhino Pin Box for Jayco 5th Wheel

Question:

My jayco has the rhino pin box which is very short. Is there a better longer pin box that will give me more clearance when backing up?

Hey Michael, welcome back! Replacement and upgraded pin boxes that fit the Rhino bolt pattern are designed around the same size and geometry. Some like the Curt Flex Air # LC65VR maybe be slightly longer, but it won't translate into any real difference in your turning clearance.

The Reese Sidewinder is a solution but the issue is finding one right now. Reese is for sale following the bankruptcy of First Brands and most of their parts are nowhere to be found. If your 2018 Ram 2500 is a short bed I recommend switching to a sliding 5th wheel hitch to gain additional clearance.

Did you upgrade to a new Jayco from the 2016 you had before?

Yes I bought a 2024 jayco 29 foot . Maybe a Anderson 5th wheel hitch will work.thanks

@Michael you're welcome. If you still have the Andersen from before I would give that a try and see, can't hurt to check.

I purchased the flex aire hitch which provides a very comfortable ride. I doesn’t provide any additional clearance when backing into tight spaces. I purchased the BW sliding hitch which works great.
