Actual Tray Width vs Overall Width for 29 Inch RV Cargo Slide
Updated 05/07/2026 | Published 05/04/2026 >
Question:
Hi - based on a question I saw about the 26” width, 72” 80 slide tray slide was around 22” I think, I am looking for the actual width of the 29” tray , the part that needs to fit through my opening? When it says 29” width, that is width with the rails, what is the actual width of the tray that will extend through my opening? Hope this makes sense. Thank you in advance.

Hi Mike, that makes perfect sense, and you’re asking exactly the right question to avoid any fit issues with the cargo slide tray part # MR49FR. The 29 inch measurement is the overall width including the rails, but the actual tray itself, the part that would need to pass through your opening, is 25-7/8 inches wide.
I’m not exactly sure what I’m seeing in the photo, but you’ll want to make sure your opening is at least 72 inches long by 29 inches wide to account for the rails as well. That way you know everything will fit properly and operate smoothly once installed. I know that opening size can be the make or break on these installs, so it’s always worth double checking that you’ve got a little extra room beyond that tray width just to account for smooth operation. If you want to send me a more zoomed out photo, I can help!
What are you planning to load on the slide first once you get it set up?

Thank you! I have a single side opening at about 84” deep, that is why I really want the 80% slide, so that is not an issue. This is the majority of my storage other than a rear side compartment for a grill/ griddle and my leveling components. I tried to add a few zoomed out images but could not figure out how, but I have 28” opening of flat area before it start to curve up and about 1.5 inch lip. The floor is about 40+” wide so if I can fit the 33” it will optimize my storage, I won’t have to access from inside the camper. I think I can fit the 33” x 72” 80% two way slide safely. Any issue with a two way option only planning to go one way?
