What Is The Torque Value For The Nuts In The Alltrek 4000 And MORryde HD Shackle Kit

Published 05/04/2026

Question:

I am confused about the torque setting for the nuts on the Alltrek 4000. Im a smart guy but this one has me baffled. Step three of the installation instructions says to torque all nuts to 40 ft-lbs unless using a 3/4inch socket then torque to 80 ft-lbs. The nuts are 3/4inch so of course you would use a 3/4inch socket. 80 ft-lbs make these nuts so tight they pinch the hanger to the point the springs no longer pivot at all. What am I missing. Same instruction for the heavy shackle kit.

Hey John, thanks for reaching out. You aren't missing anything - the way they word that is really weird and confusing. Torque value is definitely not based on socket size it's based on bolt diameter and application. For the Alltrek 4000 nuts you will want to do 40 ft-lbs. If you run them to 80 ft-lbs and lock everything down, exactly what you’re seeing happens, the hanger gets pinched and the springs can’t move.
