Are they clearance issues for a 2026 Toyota Camry SE with a hitch and bike rack?

Updated 05/06/2026 | Published 05/02/2026

Question:

I am considering purchasing a 2026 Camry SE. I need a hitch for my bike rack. Does anyone have any issues with the EH77CR and bike rack scrapping the ground entering and exiting driveways or going over speed bumps?

John I completely understand your concern, you’re thinking about the right issue.

Ground clearance is the main limitation when putting a hitch and bike rack on a most sedans like a Camry.

The EcoHidden hitch # EH77CR sits around 13.5 inches high from the ground to the bottom of the receiver. Most riders don’t have issues with normal driving because it's designed with a slight upward angle to improve clearance.

Of course like any sedan, you can get some scraping on steep driveways or speed bumps, especially with longer platform racks or heavier loads. There are no guarantees, so it's always best to be cautious.

A recommendation for bike rack is the Hollywood Racks Destination Bike Rack # HLY94FR is frame mount for 2 Bikes and fits 2" Hitches. This rack has a 35 lbs capacity per bike, so it’s a strong yet manageable option for riders.

What style of bikes do you have and how frequent are you riding?

Thank you for your reply. This information is very helpful. I have a Allen Deluxe 3-bike Hitch Mount Rack. It weights about 22 pounds. I carry, at the most, two Trek bikes that weight no more than 25 pounds each. I generally ride once per week.
