2000 suburban i just hooked up a C56196 converter as mytruck has a signal lights, reverse light and a brake/ running light .. seems like it should be easy and straight forward but when I test it say with a signal lights on the running light socket flashes also any advice.please.. my truck had no trailer wiring from the factory

Hey Gino. I attached a diagram below that shows how the 2-to-3 Tail Light Converter item # C56196 needs to be setup. One of the biggest problems we see people encounter when installing these are bad grounds. So I highly recommend checking those first. Both on the harness and your trailer.
If the grounds are solid, I recommend using a circuit tester like item # PTW2993 to verify you've got the correct wiring in your Suburban connected to the right circuits.
If that checks out or if your Suburban or trailer has LED lighting, I recommend returning the 2-to-3 Tail Light Converter item # C56196. If you have it hooked up correctly, grounded properly, and your trailer wiring is good then the converter isn't working correctly. It will not work with LED trailer lights either.
To add a 4-way wiring harness to your 2000 Chevy Suburban, you can use the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter item # C59236. It'll splice directly into your factory wiring and will seperate the signals so your trailer lights function correctly. It is also compatible with LED trailer lights.

The converter works as it should. My 2014 Ram uses a computer to control the taillight functions. The computer would not play with the converter, just did some weird stuff.

The converter is not designed to operate the running lights. It will only interpret and change the inputs from a two-wire (combined stop and turn lamps) tow vehicle to an output going to a three-wire (separate stop and turn lamps) trailer or towed vehicle.

Hello no trailer i was just wiring the truck turns out that even with the led flasher the unit does not like the ked bulbs in the truck . I had to go back yo.original bulbs to fix it
