Will VelociRAX Bike Rack Work With Blue Ox Hitch
Updated 04/15/2026 | Published 04/10/2026 >
Question:
What is the depth of this Blue Ox Hitch? I'm looking to pair it with a VelociRax bike rack, which requires a 3 3/8 inch 86mm depth past center of hitch pin hole to the rack. Does this hitch require a stabilization strap when used with a bike rack? I'm looking for a 2inch hitch for a 2017 Mazda CX-5 that does not require using a strap.

Hey J D! The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the # BLU89HR receiver is 3-5/8". I did measure on the inside since it has that plate blocking the back just to be sure. This will be able to accommodate the VelociRAX bike rack. The tongue weight capacity is high enough at 675 lbs, and a stabilizer strap is not required.
Which VelociRAX do you have and where do you usually go riding?
