Question:
I need to attach a Haul-Master 5000 lb. tow bar to a 2003 Honda CRV using a DEMCO classic baseplate 9518135. The Haul-Master tow bar uses a 2 inch wide clevis inside dimension. You dont list Haul-Master or give dimensions on your parts, so I cant determine which adapter will fit. Can you help?

Hi Tim; you aren't seeing dimensions on all of these parts because they aren't designed to be mashed together based on their measurements. A base plate kit like the Demco Classic Base Plate Kit # DM9518135 uses specific connection points and compatible tow bars or approved adapters.
The Haul-Master tow bar isn’t designed to work with a base plate at all. It’s meant to bolt to its own brackets, and the only way to use it with something like a crossbar setup is by heavily modifying it. This involves drilling holes, adding shims or spacers, and basically forcing it to fit. That’s not a proper or safe towing setup.
There aren’t any adapters to make that tow bar work with a Demco base plate, or any others, so this isn’t something you can safely piece together. The right move here is to replace the Haul-Master with a compatible tow bar like the etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e34ZR. This ensures everything connects correctly and you can tow your 2003 Honda CR-V safely behind your motorhome.
