Is There A Way To Filter Water And Get Rid Of White Build-Up When Camping In Our RV ?

Published 03/24/2026

Question:

I’ve noticed our water heater and faucets are getting white buildup after trips, especially some spots in Texas. Is there a way to prevent that or is that just part of RV life? I've seen some water filters but not sure if that would work or not.

Hello Sandra, that’s almost always hard water - and you don’t have to just live with it.

The AR3 Elite water filter kit # GB59FR is designed for exactly that. It adds a water softener to the filtration system, which reduces the minerals that cause that white scale buildup in your heater, faucets, and lines.

You still get full filtration for taste and contaminants, but the softener is what really protects your plumbing long-term and decreases that buildup you were seeing.

Are you typically staying in one spot for a while, or moving around a lot?
