Question:

I have a 2025 f150 with the Pro Access tailgatedoor that swings open without ping tailgate. I am trying to determine if the Westin hard trifold is compatible with my tailgate. I see some reviewers online suggesting that the tailgate has to be closed before the cover, which while not impossible would make it to use with the pro access door. I cannot find anything on the Westin site that mentions compatibility. Does the tailgate have to be closed before the cover is latched in order for the seal to work correctly? Or can the cover be closed first and the tailgate will still have a good seal? Additionally your listing shows a 3 year warranty, while the Westin site shows limited lifetime. What is the correct warranty timeframe?

Great question, Brian.

For the Westin hard tri-fold part # W23VM, you’ll want to close the cover first, then the tailgate, that’s what gives you the best seal and keeps everything latched securely. Once it’s closed, you can still open and close the full tailgate normally.

With the Pro Access tailgate, the swing-out door is the tricky part. Since it swings into the space where the cover sits, it’s likely you won’t be able to use that feature with the cover closed.

As for water sealing, it does a good job in rain and car washes when installed correctly, but like most covers, it isn’t completely watertight.

Bottom line: works great with the full tailgate, but the swing door will likely be blocked when the cover is shut.

What gear or equipment are you usually storing in your truck bed?
