Can Additional Switch Be Added To Solera Power Awning

Updated 03/05/2026 | Published 03/02/2026

Question:

Looking to purchase the Solera Power Awning Switch, and I would like to add it to my current switch for the RV. One existing switch inside and a new one outside in my outdoor kitchen area to protect it I saw on another post that it needs to be wired to the original switch, wondering if you have a wiring diagram on this wiring. Thanks!

Hi John; there is no reason why you wouldn't be able to add an additional switch to your Solera awning to run it from a different location. I went ahead and attached the wiring diagram for the Replacement Switch Kit for Solera Power RV Awnings # LC285500 below for your reference.

What kind of trailer do you have?

Hi John - I installed this switch as a replacement for the switch that came with our RV, so our installations are a bit different. But the main thing you need to understand about this switch (and the OEM switch that came with your rig) is that the switch changes the polarity of the the current going to the awning motor. Once you have that digested, adding the new switch to the existing configuration should be a simple matter of running the wires from your outdoor kitchen location to the awning motor wires connected to the original switch. What a great idea to have a switch outside!

I replaced an existing switch. You should be able to add a second switch in parallel with your original.
