Can Peterson Clearance or Side Marker Trailer Light Bulb Be Replaced With LED
Updated 02/18/2026 | Published 02/14/2026 >
Question:
I am interested in the Peterson 5 inch Tear Clearance or Side Marker Light Part number M116A I was wondering, can the bulb thats in it be switched out for a LED and if so what part number bulb would that be? I was also wondering, if the bulb was switched out of this light would the ability to be submersible be compromised? This is going on a 2000 Ranger Boat Trailer. Thanks

Hey Anthony! The Peterson Clearance or Side Marker Trailer Light # M116A is sonically sealed. This means the lens and the housing are basically fused together.
It would be difficult to open, could actually damage the light, and once you open it the submersible quality would be lost. It doesn't look like we have an LED version in this size/style so sticking with incandescent would be the only option.
Where are you taking the Ranger next?

Is that a single wire light with the wire being power and the light grounding to the trailer or does it have to wires? Thanks again
