Question:
Hello, I have a 2016 GMX Yukon XL with tire size 285/45R22. My question is what is the difference between the Konig Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - Self Tensioning - 1 Pair Code: KON59GR. and the Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - Assisted Tensioning - 1 Pair Code: TC2327. There is a significant price difference. I need S Class snow chains that will last and not break driving on icy and snowy roads. Also I see it one has self tensioning and the other is assisted? whats the difference. and can I also use a rubber tensioner on these tire chains as well? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly, Rami

Hey, Rami!
That's a really good question. I'll start with the Titan Chains Part # TC2327. Once you get these on the tires and drive a few feet, the chains with settle in place on the tire. Because of this you may have to hop out and re-adjust the tensioner tighter. You can use an additional tensioner like part # PW103. However, adding in the rubber adjustor may not negate the need to re-adjust the tensioner on the chains.
Moving on to the Konig chains part # KON59GR. These chains have that built in self tensioning. That means there is a mechanism that will tighten the adjustor as you drive forward. This will eliminate the need to jump out of your vehicle and re-adjust the tensioner yourself.
I included a picture circling that the self tensioner is on the chains. Just so you know where it is and what it looks like. I've also linked a video that shows off the self-adjustors more. It's not for the same chains for your size tire but the idea is exactly the same.
Are you traveling somewhere where you will need chains or live in an area that you will be needing them for?

Hey Rami, how did things go with the Konig self-tensioning chains on your Yukon XL? Did the built-in adjuster keep the chains tight without needing the extra rubber tensioner? Your experience could help others choosing between these two options.
