Troubleshooting Progressive Dynamics PD4590 Not Working After Brownout

Question:

I have a 2015 5th wheel with the pd4590 converter charged. We had a brown out a few weeks ago and I discovered that the battery was dead and nothing worked. The 50 amp is plugged into the garage power for the winter season and there is power at the plug going the the RV, but no ac is getting into the rig through the converter charger. Put the battery on a separate charger and the 12v works and I can turn on my inverter for the AC fridge and it will turn on, but no ac or microwave turn on. Just looking for troubleshooting ideas before having to buy a new 4590. Any ideas on what to look for.

Hi Jeff; did you check for power on each hot wire coming in? If one of the legs is dead it could cause this problem as well. Did you check for 120V at the converter input? Also, make sure the main and branch breakers aren't tripped in the power center. They might not look tripped so go ahead and turn them off and back on again. You also want to check out your transfer switch if you have one, that could block AC power after a brownout.

I'm having difficulty in locating the transfer switch to check it. I have a 2015 Jayco Pinnacle. It is wired for a generator but there is no generator installed. Could the transfer switch still be my problem and where might it be hiding :)

@SteveA you would have to ask Jayco to see if you actually have one and where they might have installed it. Could be behind or underneath a lot of different things.

@SteveA you can certainly look in all of the usual places. In the pass-through behind the wall panel where wires run (like where the battery disconnect is located), behind the main breaker panel, behind a false panel by the water pump, or near the generator prep wiring. I hate to send you on a wild goose chase looking all over for this though if they can give you better direction.
