Recommendation for Maneuvering a 2022 Winnebago 2108FBS Up an 8% Grade

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 01/03/2026

Question:

We need something to help put a 2022 Winnebago 2108FBS into a tight-ish spot. GVWR = 5500. Tongue weight = 472. Hitch height = 28. Ground is mostly flat except for an 8.32 grade on part of it. Need to go up the grade, then back down onto flat. Stamped concrete and decomposed granite. We are considering a front hitch 2014 F150 4WD or your Trailer Valet. Any recommendations for one vs. the other? Thanks

Hey Claudia, great question! The tow dollies like the Trailer Valet XL Trailer Dolly with Chain Drive # TVXL2 are not rated for that steep of a grade. Front hitch receivers for your 2014 Ford F-150 have a GTW of 5,000 lbs, so I recommend using the rear trailer hitch you use for towing the Winnebago to maneuver the trailer. I wish there was a more convenient option, but with a rig that size it eliminates a lot of the alternatives.

Hey Claudia, how did things go with moving your Winnebago using the F-150’s rear hitch? Your experience could help others trying to maneuver a similar trailer on a grade.
