Do I Need Spacers for Installing Timbrens on My 2004 For F-150 with Body Lift?

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 01/01/2026

Question:

I have a 2004 Ford f150 FX4, four-wheel drive truck. The truck has a body lift on it. Will will your kits work with a four-wheel drive truck that has a body lift? And if so, what is the maximum body lift in your product for this vehicle can work with? Thank you for your response

Hello JC,

Great question. Because you have a body lift on your 2004 Ford F-150 it will not jeopardize the fitment for the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFR150D. A body lift only spaces the cab and bed away from the frame and does not change the distance between the frame and the axle, which is where the Timbren system operates.

If instead the truck had a suspension or frame lift, that would be a different story. A suspension lift increases the gap between the frame and the axle, which can prevent the Timbren springs from engaging properly under load.

What are you hauling that you are looking to add the Timbrens?

I'm hauling a 2500 lb off-road vehicle. Will your product make this ride better?

@Jv Timbrens are great if you are under a constant load. When you are unloaded, they can cause a harsher ride, especially if you hit a pothole. Not sure where you are located, but here in Missouri we do not have the best roads. If you want better ride quality when you are unloaded, I would go with the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-108-47. The # SSR-108-47 are rated for up to 1,500 pounds of tongue weight, so if you are towing a 2,500 pound off-road vehicle, these will be more than enough to handle the tongue weight while still keeping the ride comfortable.
