Hey Russel. I've got a really solid hanging bike rack for you but there are no single bike racks unless you have a hitch installed on your 1997 Mercury Tracer.

For an easy to install hanging bike rack that works with the 1997 Mercury Tracer Wagon, I recommend the Thule Passage Trunk Bike Rack for 2 Bikes item # TH910XT. This bike rack has a 35 lbs capacity per bike and uses a six-strap system to secure the rack to the rear of your car. Once you get the straps connected there's a convenient dial on each side that will get them tightened up.

Please note that due to the spoiler's on the sedan model of the Mercury Tracers the Thule Passage item # TH910XT only works on the wagon models. If yours is the sedan you'll need to use the Malone Runway Trunk Bike Rack for 2 Bikes item # MAL84RR.

The Malone Runway item # MAL84RR has a 33 lbs per bike capacity and also uses six straps to secure the bike rack. It's designed to be compatible with spoilers.

What kind of bike do you have and is your Tracer a wagon or sedan?

Hey Russel, how did things go with the Thule Passage or Malone Runway bike rack on your Mercury Tracer? Were you able to get one of them secured easily? Your feedback could really help others looking for a simple, non-permanent rack setup.
