Can you provide updated information for flat towing a 1992 manual transmission Mazda Miata? Also, does flat towing a 1992 Mazda Miata add mileage to it?

Hey Phil! I can do that. To flat tow your 1992 Mazda Miata you will need a tow bar, base plate kit, safety cables, wiring, and a brake system. I recommend the following:

-Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

Your Miata uses a mechanical odometer but it is driven by the transmission output while the engine is running so it will not add mileage to your vehicle.

@Phil I agree with Robin H's reply. You will not accumulate mileage while flat towing. Etrailer did a great job of getting me all the right parts to tow my 2003 Miata. I opted for the wireless tail lights because I really didn't want to hack into my harness and I used brake controller that is installed between the drivers seat and the brake pedal when towing. My biggest problem towing my Miata was I really couldn't see it behind a 40' diesel pusher motorhome, but I got used to it after a while.
