Why Are Extendable Mirrors Flat
Updated 06/27/2014 | Published 06/26/2014 >
Question:
Are passenger side extendable towing mirrors always made with flat mirrors? If so why? When they are not extended they should work like regular OEM mirrors which are convex, making it much easier to see adjacent vehicles. Flat mirrors severely limit the field of view.

All of the slip-on mirrors like part # C11800 you referenced have flat mirrors, and are not available with a convex mirror feature. I spoke with my contact at Cipa, and they told me that the old-style extendable mirrors all feature a flat mirror, and that on some of the newer models for certain vehicles they have been redesigned and they have replaced the flat mirrors with convex mirrors.
If you want to let me know the year, make and model of your vehicle, and the mirror style you currently have, I can check to see if the mirror style has changed for towing mirrors that fit your vehicle.
