Can Hatch Door On Valterra Electrical Cable Hatch A10-2130VP Be Replaced?

Updated 12/19/2025 | Published 12/16/2025

Question:

So apparently the hinges and tabs on the hatch door break pretty easily on these. Im trying to determine if the design of this with the covered installation screws where it not the hatch door would be replaceable without having to pull the entire assembly out to replace the hatch door, thereby having to reseal everything?

Hey Michael, thanks for reaching out. I went out to our warehouse to look at one of the Valterra Electrical Cable Hatch for RVs # A10-2130VP. It doesn't look like the door itself is designed to come off, so that part would not be replaceable. The whole front facing part of the hatch can detach from the rest of the assembly so that part would be replaceable without having to pull the entire thing out and redo everything.

Very straight forward installation with no evidence of water ingress. Do need to be a bit carefull when opening over time, the hinge pins can break. Just be aware, not a big issue. Overall very satisfied with the product.

@Bill Thanks for sharing, Bill. Seems like the pins breaking is a common issue with these because you aren't the first person to mention this. Just the way she goes I guess. Luckily, they aren't terribly expensive. Glad to hear its been working out though. Thanks again for the feedback!

I think the one I replaced was on a month before the hinge pins broke. I am still looking for a better replacement , but it seems they're all made of cheap plastic. If anyone finds a more durable on, please let me know. This is the second one that I bought. I wouldn't recommend this product.

@Tony Tony, thanks for sharing your experience. Unfortunately, you’re correct that most replacements in this category are made from the same type of molded plastic, and there really isn’t a more heavy duty option available at this time. That said, a month of use before failure is definitely not what we’d want to see, and I’m sorry this one didn’t hold up for you. I appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback, as it helps set realistic expectations for others shopping for a replacement.
