Recommended Crossbars for a 2023 Toyota RAV4 w/ Raised Roof Rails

Question:

I have a 23 Rav4 LE. I have a Thule Excursion E8 cargo clam carrier which is small and does not align with the fixed mount cross rails. Rails are too far apart. And the clam has fixed mounts using a U-bolt/twist lock. Are there any options for adjustable spacing cross rails for the 19-24 Rav4s? Or perhaps some other configuration that might work?

Hey Rick. If your 2023 Toyota RAV4 has roof rails along the sides of your roof that the crossbars attach to that you can stick your fingers under we do have some options. If your roof rails are flush then the only options are fixed crossbars that attach to predrilled points in the rails. This sounds like what you're dealing with now.

If you have the raised roof rails you can stick your fingers under, I recommend the Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack for Raised Rails - Aluminum item # TH52ZA. These aero bars come with mounting clamps that can be adjusted up and down the length of your rails to match the spacing requirements of your cargo carrier.

Do the roof rails on the side of your RAV4 stick up or are they flush?

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I have the flush mounted OEM roof rails. I believe Thule makes other cargo carriers that would work with the fixed position cross rails. That might be my only option.

@RickT You're welcome. Yeah I was worried about that. The Yakima RocketBox Pro 14 Rooftop Cargo Box item # Y07192 has been recommended for RAV4's previously. It fits crossbars spread from 24" - 40" apart.
