Ladder Rack For Roof Of Trailer To Haul PVC Pipe And Strap Them Down

Published 12/03/2025

Question:

Is it okay to carry PVC pipe on the PF69VR, or will it bounce around too much since there aren’t built-in load stops?

Evan - the P&F ladder rack for enclosed trailers # PF69VR works great for PVC. The crossbars span the full trailer width, and the uprights mount solidly on a 6 inch × 2 inch bracket, so you’ll have a nice stable platform that is also fairly lightweight since it's rust-free aluminum. Since the rack doesn’t include load stops, just strap your pipe bundles with some ratchet straps like # e45SV so they don’t migrate side to side. You could also drill holes and add an eye bolt tie down anchor like # 348819 to hook straps to.

A simple fix many contractors use is a short section of split pool noodle or pipe insulation on the crossbars to keep PVC quiet and cushioned.

What length pipe are you typically hauling?
