Can I Trim The P&F Aluminum Ladder Rack For Enclosed Trailers To Be Lower Profile?

Question:

How much trimming is usually needed to make PF69VR sit lower on a flat-top trailer?

Hey Kelsey - the P&F Enclosed Trailer Ladder Rack # PF69VR isn’t designed to be trimmed, and the bottom 6" × 2" mounting bracket definitely can’t be cut since it’s the structural base.

If someone absolutely needed a lower profile, the only area that could be shortened is the very top of the upright above the welded gusset, and that would be an installer-choice modification, not something P&F or etrailer recommends.

What exactly are you trying to do? Fit into a low garage?

Hey Andrew. I have a trailer with a roof air vent sits about 5-1/2" above the roof, and I was hoping the rack would clear it without sticking way up in the air. Do you know roughly how tall the PF69VR ends up once it’s mounted?

@Tim Good morning Tim. Once installed, the ladder rack for enclosed trailers # F69VR typically sits around 8 inches above the roof, but it can vary a little based on exactly where you place the 6" × 2" bracket on your trailer’s top rail.
