Availability of Trailer Hitch for 2026 Mini Cooper

Updated 12/07/2025 | Published 11/27/2025

Question:

You only list hitches for mini cooper up to 2024 Do you have a unit that fits a 2026 mini cooper 2 door? I want to mount a bicycle rack with a hitch mount

Hi John; at this time nobody makes a custom fit hitch for your 2026 Mini Cooper 2-door. If you want a hitch you will have to take the # E-9 to a local fabricator and have them fashion one for the vehicle. If you don't want to go that route you can use a trunk mount bike rack like # 298-BK1910-BK or add a roof rack # Y46SD (assuming it is a hardtop) and roof bike rack # Y02103.

Robin, thanks for the thorough and thoughtful reply. I just wanted the rack to carry a bicycle to/from my mechanic when I drop the car off for service. A hitch mounted rack offered the cleanest solution. Seeing as how this is not practical, I will simply remove the front wheel and stuff the bike into the back of my Mini. I am really impressed with the effort you put into this. Thanks again! John

@JohnT you're welcome, happy to help! Hopefully you don't have to go to the mechanic too often.

Hi Robin, I have given up on stuffing a bicycle in the back of my Mini. The SeaSucker Komodo is just too expensive for infrequent use. The SeaSucker Hornet looks like just the thing for short local jaunts to my mechanic or the bike shop. I held my bike up against the hatch of my Mini and it looks to me like it works. The bicycle seat rests on the bumper. I will buy a $20.00 sheepskin seat cover to spare the paint on the bumper. I wouldn't take a bike on a long trip hanging off the Hornet, but it should do for trips of a few miles You don't list the Hornet as compatible with the 2026 Mini. The only difference I can see between the Mini and the car in your Hornet video is that the Mini hatch is pretty much vertical. Do you see any reason why I should not buy it? Thanks, John

@JohnT the suction cups on the Hornet # 298-BH1302 won't be an issue since they can mount almost anywhere. The straps are likely the problem and why it isn't listed as a fit. Other trunk mount bike racks aren't a fit either, probably because of where the straps attach. I'm guessing the material they used on the 2026 won't hold up to the force from the straps.

@RobinH Hi Robin, Thanks for your thorough and thoughtful replies. I have never had better customer service anywhere. I was a little confused by your last reply. You talked about straps. The only strap on the Hornet is a safety strap that threads between the open hatch top and the car body. You tie it to your bike in case the suction cups let go. SeaSucker has supplied two 120 pound rated cups on the Hornet. The Talon, which is the same price, has four 210 pound rated cups. The Talon sits on top of the roof. Its cups are mostly in tension, their strongest mode of adhesion. The Hornet is pretty much vertical, so its cups are mostly in shear, their weakest mode of adhesion. SeaSucker threw in the safety strap because it knew that the Hornet cups are weak. Given that both the Hornet and the Talon cost the same, SeaSucker could easily have put the stronger cups on the Hornet. I wrote a mail to SeaSucker about this. Still the Hornet makes more sense for me. You don't have it in stock so I bought directly from SeaSucker. I am sorry about that! Thanks again, John

@JohnT you're welcome, not a problem. Companies typically say no if there is an issue with using straps, even if the rest of the rack can handle it. I have no doubt those suctions cups can hold the bikes, and if SeaSucker says it is fine then that is great!
