Will The Curt Hitch C64ZV Interfere With The Rear Hatch Foot Sensor On A 2025 Nissan Ariya?

Question:

Does the hitch receiver interfere with the toe control for opening the rear hatch? We plan on using the receiver for a bicycle rack.

Hi Martin!

Will the Curt hitch # C64ZV interfere with the foot sensor for the rear hatch on your 2025 Nissan Ariya? Yes. Will it completely negate it though? No it will not.

With how and where all hitches sit, there is inevitably going to be some disruption of these sensors. However, I have been doing this for over a decade and I have never seen one complete make that sensor useless. All you need to do is find that sweet spot on either side of the receiver tube that will actuate it again. It will likely take a few times of doing this to remember where it is, but after that, it will be just as normal as when you figured out where to put your foot to open it before installing the hitch.

Do you already have the bike rack you will be using the hitch for?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, we have a couple of different bike racks. We’re probably going to use the Rocky Mounts rack. Both racks swing down and I hope the hatch will clear when it’s tipped down. We’re probably not going to do anything right away as we do have a pickup for hauling the bicycle racks.

@Buzz RockyMounts makes some nice bike racks! We haven't had the chance to install a hitch on an Ariya as of yet, but I think tilting bike racks will allow for the back hatch to open all the way up. That said, I would be interested in what you find out once everything is installed, so if you could let me know how it goes, I would be very appreciative! Have fun out there and let me know if there is anything else you need! : )
