Will the Kuat NV 2.0 Work w/a Hitch w/a 1-1/2" From the Hitch Pin Hole to the Edge of the Receiver?

Updated 12/01/2025 | Published 11/02/2025

Question:

I bought the Thule and it did not work on my 4Runner because my 2" Hitch Pin Hole was Less than 1-1/2 Inches from the Hitch Face. I have a mens bike. Would this rack that you are recommending work for that or do I need to buy another piece? Do you ship to the Florida Keys? Thanks for helping me with what has been a difficult situation.

Hey Julie. The Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Racks-item # BA22B (matte black), item # NV22G (gunmetal gray), or item # NV22B (metallic black) do not have any restrictions on how far the pin hole has to be from the end of the receiver. These bike racks mount with a standard locking hitch pin, whereas the Thule Easyfold item # TH903202 has an AutoAttach system.

The only thing you might want to measure is how much space you have in your receiver towards the front of your 4Runner. You'll need at least 2-3/4" from the hitch pin hole to the front end of your receiver. So the opposite direction of the 1-1/2" measurement you already took. I attached a schematic below so you can see all the measurements of the Kuat NV 2.0.

The Kuat NV 2.0 Base Bike Racks have a 60 lbs per bike per bike and fit wheels up to 3" wide but you can install an adapter item # APBK for tires up to 5" wide.

We do ship to the Florida keys.

What kind of men's bike do you have? I just want to make sure the Kuat NV 2.0 is the best option for you.

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Hey Julie, how did things go with the Kuat NV 2.0 on your 4Runner? Did it give you the clearance you needed and work well with your men’s bike? Your update could make it easier for others running into the same hitch issue.
