Question:
Looking to flat tow a 4900lb 2023 jeep rubicon. Please advise me of all items I may need to include, tow bar, light kit, brake kit. Plates to mount on jeep for tow bar. I would appreciate some help on deciding. Too many items to choose from. I will be pulling my jeep near max capacity with a hitch rating of 5K.

Hi Sam!
I can definitely put a flat towing kit together for your 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. You could use the tow bar you were looking at, but it would be pretty overrated for your Jeep and I think the one I have listed will work perfectly fine, and it's a bit lighter and less expensive.
Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-521453-4 (with factory plastic or steel bumper)
etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plates - RV Mount - 6,000 lbs # e44ZR
No ParkSense: Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 7-Way to 6-Way Adapter Cord # RM-15267
ParkSense: Roadmaster Smart Diode Kit for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights - 7-Way to 6-Way Adapter Cord # RM63MR
Last thing you will need is a braking system. I prefer the permanent options for this as I think they work better and I have the two best ones listed below. One is for an RV that uses hydraulic brakes and the other is for an RV that uses air brakes.
Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Hydraulic Brakes # SM99251
Demco Air Force One Flat Tow Brake System for RVs w/ Air Brakes # SM99243
Is the 4,900 pounds when you are fully loaded? You are going to end up being over that 5,000 pound hitch capacity with this stuff installed. The baseplate is 48 pounds, the tow bar is 41 pounds, the barking systems are 13 and 17 pounds respectively, so it will be slightly over 100 pounds all together. If that weight is an empty Jeep, let me know what RV you have and I may be able to find a heavier duty hitch for it.

Hey Sam, how did your flat tow setup for the Jeep Rubicon turn out with the Roadmaster base plate and SD tow bar? It’d be great to hear if the weight and braking system worked out as planned. Your update could make it easier for others towing near their hitch limit.
