I’ve seen bolt-on gooseneck adapters online, but a friend warned me they can crack frames. Is there a better option for my Lippert 1621 setup?

Jason - your friend is spot-on. Those clamp-style adapters put too much stress on the frame. A dedicated replacement like the MORryde GooseTech # MR97MV is the safe route for a 1621 box.
