Will Old Suburban Cooktop Cover Fit GE Profile Propane RV Rangetop

Question:
We have a Suburban 3231 3 burners cooktop with a gas leak and it needs to be replaced. This GE Profile cooktop looks like an excellent upgrade/replacement. It seems the GE Profile doesn’t come with a cover. They do offer a non-folding cover that’s probably great, but awkward. Would the existing folding cover still work or is the non-folding GE cover the only cover option. We do use the cover, but the GE seems weird. Hoping you could comment and help me understand how to move forward.

Hi Frank; we don't have a way of knowing if your old cover will fit on the GE # GE67VR. More than likely it will not, but you can certainly try it. The GE Profile RV Cooktop Cover - 21" - Tempered Glass # GE74VR is the only one offered by GE. It is designed this way to give you a prep surface/extra counter space on top of the rangetop. If it folded there would be cracks for whatever you are prepping to fall through.
The one piece design also makes it more durable. Although your Suburban cover is still intact we get a lot of questions on folding glass cooktops that shattered and need replacement. Those designs allow for extra movement when you're driving around which leads to them breaking. At 17-1/2" long x 13-1/4" wide x 1" tall it isn't so large that you couldn't store it to the side or even sit it on the counter next to the rangetop and still be able to use your counter space since you can sit things on top of it.
