How Difficult Is It To Take Off A Meyer Snow Plow After Each Use? Are Caster Wheels Included?

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 10/21/2025

Question:

How hard is it to take one of these off? I’ll probably only use it a few times each winter.

Don, removal’s quick. Meyer’s Quick-Link receiver system lets you pull one pin and roll the plow away on its built-in casters. The Meyer HomePlow # ME28FR includes those wheels, and so do the heavier duty hydraulic models. The HomePlow # ME88FR is a more budget friendly option that does not include caster wheels, but it's still a simple pull-pin removal like the others.

Just remember to drop the blade to the ground first to release pressure. Where are you planning to store it - garage or shed?

Got it. So the ME88FR doesn’t come with wheels. can I add them later if I want?

@Don No Don, this is a lighter duty unit and doesn't really need caster wheels like the heavier duty plows do. If that's a shortfall for you, I'd spend a bit more and get the one with caster wheels. I think if you had an extra set of hands and didn't really need to move the plow around in the garage/shop very often, you won't need the wheels and you can get the budget friendly option.

Do the caster pins freeze up after sitting outside?

@Kathy They can if moisture gets in, Kathy. A quick spray of silicone lubricant or white lithium grease before use or storage keeps them free. I recommend keeping this indoors to keep it nice.
