Is There A Snow Plow For Polaris Ranger With 2" Front Hitch Receiver?

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 10/21/2025

Question:

Can a Meyer plow work on my Polaris Ranger? It’s got a 2-inch front receiver already.

Luke, as long as your Ranger’s hitch is a true Class III 2" and the electrical system can support a 60-amp draw, the smaller HomePlow models # ME28FR or # ME88FR are perfect. They’re lighter electric-lift plows with auto-angling, great for driveways and farm paths. They require that hitch class I mentioned rated for at least 300lb tongue weight, and also a battery rated for at least 70A (50CCA) and an alternator rated at 60A output.

Do you usually plow gravel or pavement on your property?

Thanks, that helps. Think it would still be covered by warranty on a Ranger, or does Meyer only allow trucks?

@Luke Good question, Luke. Technically Meyer rates the HomePlow line for ½-ton trucks, SUVs, and utility vehicles, but not tractors or heavy equipment. So it will be fine since your Ranger is a utv.

What about alternator output on newer Rangers? Do they usually meet that 60-amp spec?

@Jeff Most newer Rangers fall just under that mark, Jeff. I'd put a multimeter on the alternator output to verify. If it's a bit under 60A, it'll still operate fine if you’re not cycling the plow continuously. If you plan to plow for long stretches, upgrading to a higher-output alternator or maintaining a fully charged battery between runs will help keep voltage stable. I would say if it's under the required 60A, just plan on upgrading your alternator in the near future. I put a high output unit on my classic truck awhile back, and it made a big difference.
