Question:
I am purchasing a 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Then a New RV Trailer to tow behind. What type of equipment do I need to make everything easy to set up, safe, and easy smooth towing? I have never set up a vehicle or trailer before. Thanks Ray 8o

Hello Raymond, thanks for reaching out, and congrats on the new Jeep! We actually rented a Grand Wagoneer when I was in California last summer and it was fantastic! The 2026 Grand Wagoneer should come with an OEM trailer hitch and factory 4-flat wiring. So assuming your RV trailer has electric brakes, you will need to add a 7-way plug and brake controller. For that you can use the following:
- 7-Way RV Upgrade Kit for Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 12 Gauge Wires # ETBC7L
- Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness - Up to 4 Axles - Proportional # TK28ER
This comes with everything you need to upgrade the factory 4-flat to a 7-way, along with all the necessary wires for the brake controller.
You will also need a ball mount for towing. I am not sure exactly what camper you are getting but something like the Curt Adjustable 2-Ball Mount # C99NR would accommodate most any trailer. It has two ball sizes and 5-1/2" of drop to help level things out.
You could also look at using a weight distribution hitch instead of the standard ball mount. This would help keep your ride level and reduce sway. The correct WD hitch would be dependent on the trailer.
What RV did you have your eye on?
Feel free to reach out with any other questions about this or anything else towing related. I am here for you and happy to help :)
