Will this work on a flatbed with a recessed ball?

Yes, it will Bob. So long as your recessed well has a 12" x 12" opening and the top of the hitch ball is 2" or higher from the top of the bed the Shocker Hitch 5th Wheel item # SHK29YR will indeed work.

Please note that the Shocker item # SHK29YR only works to replace a Curt or Lippert Turning Point pin box.

Additionally, you will also need the BulletProof Hitches 3/8" Safety Chains with Clevis Hooks item # BPH86RR. Safety chains are required when towing with a gooseneck connection and the pin boxes do not included them. They will mount in the integrated chain mount slots.

What pinbox do you currently have on your 5th wheel trailer? If it doesn't say Turning Point you'll need a different pinbox than item # SHK29YR. If you can send me a picture of the sticker on your pin box that says one of the following RPO, LCI, Serial number I can identify it. It'll have weight capacity and date of manufacturer on it as well.

You can add this information and any other questions you have where it says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Hey Bob, did you get a chance to check if your pin box is a Curt or Lippert Turning Point for use with the Shocker Hitch 5th Wheel? Knowing that would confirm if this setup fits your flatbed. Your update could make it easier for others working with a recessed ball setup too.
