Hey Dennis,
For The Lippert SolidStep # LC791574, at its fullest length these steps extend out 44" from the RV. That is with the steps all the way out and legs fully extended. It is hard to get any other measurement because it depends on the ground you are deploying them on. Some areas may have more of a slope or incline, but is you had them all the way out it would extend 44".
What kind of RV are you wanting to put these on?

The 5th wheel is a 2009 Forest River Cardinal 3625 LX. When parked in my barn there is only 35” clearance to a steel column. I can back it up another foot and have the clearance but that limits the access on the rear of the RV. I think I can make that work. Thanks
