Question:

how far in does the tongue go in on each side of the hinge assembly? Trying to determine how much extra length is being added to the tongue of the trailer, before folding it.

Hey Colin! I reached out to Swing King and they said the trailer tongue will slide in approximately 3-1/2" on either side on the # TD88FR. With an overall length of 18-1/4" you're adding about 11-1/4" to the tongue. I went ahead and attached a chart below showing max pivot length based on trailer/tongue weight for your reference as well.
