Question:
I have a 2017 ford explorer...why do you recommend the blue ox tow bar and face plate?...would Roadmaster work just as well?

Hello Clyde, thanks for reaching out. As far as the base plates for your 2017 Ford Explorer, the Blue Ox # BX2668 and the Roadmaster # RM-524446-5, both are going to install very similarly. There is not going to be a noteworthy difference as far as durability and reliability. The Roadmaster base plates typically cost less than Blue Ox, so for that reason, I would recommend the Roadmaster # RM-524446-5.
As far as the tow bars, The Blue Ox are decent, but personally I prefer the Roadmaster. They are a bit more robust and user friendly. Overall I think you will have a better towing experience (and probably pay a bit less) than if you did a Blue Ox setup. Here is what I recommend for the tow bar:
- Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000 lbs # RM-520
Are you needing the rest of the parts for your flat tow setup? Let me know.
