Diesel Heater That Can Tie Into Fuel Tank On 2021 Winnebago Revel On Sprinter Chassis

Published 08/20/2025

Question:

I’ve got a 2021 Winnebago Revel on a Sprinter chassis, and I’m looking at the Velit diesel heater. Will this tie into my existing diesel tank, or do I need a separate fuel tank for it?

Dan, the nice part of going diesel in your Revel is that the Velit Diesel Heater # VE66QV can tie right into your Sprinter’s diesel tank. The manual notes that a standpipe is the most reliable way to pull fuel especially above 5,000 ft, though some folks tap into the factory aux port if available. Just make sure the standpipe sits at least 25mm off the tank bottom so you’re not pulling sludge. Since you’ll be in Colorado, where altitude is a factor, I’d recommend the standpipe method for consistent performance.

What kind of boondocking do you do most - mountain ski trips or more mild camping? That’ll help us fine-tune if you’ll want additional insulation or a second unit.

Other owners, how are your Velits or other diesel heaters performing at elevation?
