Replacement Slam Latch for a 2019 Palomino Solaire 316RLTS

Question:

I own a 2019 Palomino Solaire 316RLTS. I am looking to replace both slam latches on the side of the travel trailer. Do you sell a replacement for them?

Thanks for reaching out and sending over the pictures, Don!

I’d be happy to help with a replacement, but I’ll need just a bit more information first. Unfortunately, unlike vehicle systems, there isn’t a database that tells us exactly what components are on your camper, so we’ll need to go off a few specific measurements.

Here’s what I’ll need to get started:

Overall size of the latch (width × height)
Door thickness
Size of the cutout
Mounting hole dimensions (center to center)
Are all the latches keyed alike currently?

Once I have those details, I’ll be able to find the best possible replacement for you. Just a heads-up, there’s a chance the new latch may not line up exactly with your current one or look identical, but I’ll do my best to find a close match.

Cut-out width ˜ 3 1/8ish Cut-out height ˜ 3 1/4ish Door thickness looks close to 1 1/4"–1 1/2" Are all the latches keyed alike currently? yes but i only need two latches to match so I would buy two new ones. I will get back to you on the screw dimensions.

@DonM Thanks for getting some information to me so quickly! I think the best option based off this information so far would be part # BA57FR. You may have to make your cut-out a tad larger. This one is for cut-outs that are 3-1/4" tall x 4" wide. The whole latch is 5" wide x 4-1/2" tall x 1-1/2" and will work with your door thickness. This lock also has the key-alike option. You would just want to make sure to select from the drop-down bar (its right above the yellow "Add to Cart" icon) and change it to "key alike". That way we will send you two locks that share the same key number. Each lock comes with one key. Let me know what you think of this one once you get a chance to look it over.

@GwendolynY what backplate do you recommend with this and type of hardware I need to buy? Some reviews are saying it comes with no hardware.

@Don You can use backing plate part # 295-000017. There is no hardware with the latch, Bauer doesn't put any threads on the pegs where the screws go so you can use existing hardware.
