Hi everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today, we're gonna take a look at this Lippert Slam Latch for RV doors. Now, this slam latch is going to be great for your RV compartment doors, and this looks like it's going to be a very easy installation for you. This comes in two parts as you can see here, you're going to have a panel that's going to install behind the door that you're going to be putting this latch on, and then the panel with the handle here is going to install on the front of that door. So let me go ahead and give you some measurements here to help you be confident that this is going to work for you. So I'm gonna be measuring this rear part first. And the overall height, and I'm gonna be measuring here at the tallest point, we're gonna be sitting right at 5 1/4 inches tall at the tallest point.
I'm gonna put my finger there, so you can see that just a little bit better, there we go. And then looking at the overall width, again, I'm measuring at the widest point, we're sitting right at five inches wide. And then the overall thickness, we're sitting right at an inch and a half thick, and that's taken into consideration where this latch is built into here on this rear portion. Now, the mounting holes, I measured here, we can measure it together. We're looking at about 3 1/8 inches center to center, and then, right at about 2 3/4 inches center to center.
Now, looking at this front portion, measuring again the overall height, we're sitting here right at about 4 3/4 inches tall at the tallest point, and then at the widest point, again, right at 4 3/4 inches wide. Now, putting these two halves together here. There we go. Now, I measured this gap earlier, and we're sitting right at half an inch. So when you have these two halves together, that gap in between is going to measure right at about a half an inch.
Now, as you can see, one key is included with this, it's gonna be a very simple operation, you turn it quarter of a turn, and it's going to lock it and then unlock it, so you will get one key with this. And this is constructed of a very durable hardened plastic, so this feels very durable, very rugged, so I think that's going to last you quite some time and hold up to those elements. Great replacement, bought a pair for Grand Design Solitude compartment door. Came keyed alike. No screws came with the two piece assembly. Purchased 8 Stainless 8-32 x 1" screws at the hardware store instead of using old screws.
This lock has worked flawlessly and has held as as expected.
The product is well built and a perfect fit to replace the slam latch on my Winnebago Minnie Plus. The installation was easy and only took a couple of minutes. Several things caught me off guard and you should be aware of before ordering. This slam latch does NOT come with a magnet. This is a big deal for me and a true disappointment. This is not mentioned in the description of the product other than in a small print at the bottom of the page where the Lippert part number for non magnet latch is referenced as a replacement for the part number with the latch. Very confusing! Second, this comes with only one key. Also, there are no screws with the latch. You must use your existing screws from the latch you replace. If you are putting in slam latches for the first time, you will need to purchase screws from you local hardware store. Quality of product is great! Service from etrailer was great! Description on website is misleading. The part is not the exact replacement that I thought it to be.

Package delivered on time. But didn’t include the screws to install it. Had to use my old rusty screws
Latch fit properly, was delivered promptly. The only disappointment was that no option to provide key to match my original latch.
Over priced but works as expected.
Fit like a glove. Wish I could have been able to match the lock/ key with the handle that broke. At least the key is a different color so I don't have to fumble with keys.

The product is great and fits perfectly. My complaint though is the price for this was extremely high. I do wish I would have bought this from [online vendor] for half the price. I found that the one on [online vendor] was exactly the same product in the end. I chose to buy through etrailer because it is a great company that is very trusted.
This is the exact latch that I needed for my Grand Design Solitude pass through storage door. E-trailer had it I. Stock and the free shipping option was still only a couple of business days. etrailer.com is my go to when I am looking for parts and accessories for my trailer.

Just installed Lippert replacement latch. It is plastic and metal. It is not magnetized as original but I see that earlier model is no longer offered. Perhaps the new latch will be more durable. I anticipate no issues and very glad the item was offered by etrialer. Bay was so helpful in finding correct info to help me with decision to purchase correct latch. The latch fit perfectly and works as it should. Bay was knowledgeable and great to work with.

The latches were an exact match to the ones I have. I had looked in several places and was afraid, since my trailer is 8 years old, that I wasn't going to be able to get the same ones. Alexandria was a great help in verifying the information.
They were exact fit parts. My concerns is this is the third time I have replaced these slam latches. E trailer is excellent. They don’t control the quality workmanship of the Lippert slam latches
This was an exact replacement. The keys were different than my other locks and they arrived very quick.
The only thing I wish I would’ve got new screws with it. I put the old ones in and they were kind of rusted. I guess the other lock leaked a little bit so I will go to the local hardware store. See if I can get new screws and replace them.
