In What Orientation Can the Progressive Dynamics Transfer Switch part # PD64FR Mount
Updated 08/15/2025 | Published 07/20/2025 >
Question:
The instruction say to mount the inverter either horizontally with the control panel facing up or vertically with the AC/DC connections facing down. They say the vertical orientation with the AC/DC connections facing down is so the control panel is oriented properly. Can it be mounted sideways with the fans to the left and the connections to the right if you dont care about the control panel orientation? Mounting it sideways would prevent debris from falling into the fans and inverter and would be ideal for routing the wires to the battery. Thanks for the help Dale

Hey Dale, we really have to stick with recommending mounting the Progressive Dynamics Transfer Switch part # PD64FR in the ways that you mentioned which are outlined in the instructions. They do recommend putting a shield over the fans if you want to have them mounted in the vertical orientation so that would be a smart call that avoids the issue of debris falling in the fans.

Hey Dale, did you end up using a shield over the fans to prevent debris from falling into the inverter? I'm curious if that solution worked out well for you, as it might help others facing a similar setup challenge.
