What Other Parts Do I Need In Order To Be Able To Flat Tow My 2015 Ford F150?

Question:

I have 2015 ford platinum 4x4. I already have a blue ox tow bar rated for 10,000 pounds. I have safety cables and coiled wiring harness that runs from the 2013 Monaco 43dft to front of vehicle. What parts do I need to tow this pickup behind my coach.

Hey Creighton,

For your 2015 Ford F150 the first thing you would need are base plates. For you I recommend the Blue Ox Direct Connect Base Plates # BO74FR. These are a custom fit for your vehicle and will work well with your tow bar that you already have.

For the wiring, you already have the coiled cable that is a 7 to 6 way plug. Since you have that you will just need a few little parts to wire up the vehicle. I will list those below for you, but they will work with that coiled cable you already have.
Roadmaster : # RM-154
Roadmaster Bracket : # RM-910030-5
Roadmaster Plug : # RM-910030-7

You will additionally need a towed/motorhome charge line kit to keep your batteries charged when towing # RM-156-25 & # RM-156-75. Lastly, a braking system is needed in order to flat tow. There are 2 styles, portable and a fixed system. I typically recommend the Demco Stay-IN-Play Duo # DM86VR. This is a fixed system, one time set up and is a easy system to use.

Those are the rest of the pieces you would need to get that F150 set up to flat tow. Let me know what you thing of those pieces.

Hey Creighton, How did the installation of the Blue Ox base plates and the other parts go for your Ford F150? I’d love to know if everything worked smoothly for you, as it could really help others in a similar situation.
