Do Romik RAL-S Running Boards RMK49QR Require Removing Trim Panel For Installation?

Updated 08/07/2025 | Published 07/13/2025

Question:

Does the lower factory trim below the doors have to be removed to install these running boards? If so- do you have any running boards OR nerf bars for a 24 Jeep Grand Cherokee L That does not require the lower trim being removed to install?

Hello Mark, thanks for reaching out. I looked over the instructions for the Romik RAL-S Running Boards w/ Custom Install Kit # RMK49QR. They do not mention removing any of the factory plastic trim at all. They say you need to use a bungee cord to hold it out of the way temporarily, but removing it should not be necessary.

They do mention cutting a section of the underbody felt, but that would be the only "modification" needed. I do not have a way to link the full instructions on here but you can find a PDF on the Romik site.

Hey Mark, how did the installation of the Romik running boards go? Did the instructions work out for you with just using the bungee cord and cutting the underbody felt? I'm curious to know how it turned out, as it could really help others in a similar situation!
