RV Roof Vent Lid Cover that Can Fit Ventline Roof Vent

Question:
I have 3 Ventline roof vent/fans on my RV. I have MaxxAir II vent covers that I want to install over them. I am looking for a mounting bracket that will fit the clips on the covers and attach to the mounting tabs on the Ventline fans. MaxxAir tells me that they do not have such a bracket and they recommend the more expensive FanMate covers, but I will still have to cut the plastic tabs off of the fans. Pretty sorry answer in my opinion. Do you carry such a bracket or have a vent cover that will work without cutting-up my vent fans? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hey Clif, I wish we had a bracket that could adapt your Venline roof vents to a MaxxAir II vent cover but at this time there isn't anything like that. Instead a better option would be a FanMate cover like the part # MA00-955001 that you also mentioned. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear but it's only option unfortunately.

Jameson, thank you for your response. Per request of Chris R., in a follow-up message, I am responding to your reply. Hopefully this will help with future inquiries. I apologize for the voluminous reply. I installed a FanMate cover, like the one you suggested, on the FanMate fan in our kitchen. This fan has the correct mounting tabs already installed on the fan. Installation was a matter of placing the cover over the fan and pushing the clips through the mounts. The Ventline fans that I was inquiring about have different mounting tabs. You should be able to see them in the attached pictures. Since the MaxxAir covers, including the FanMate cover, have the same mounting brackets, neither will fit the VentLine built-in mounting tabs. They are too long and place the mounting pin holes outside the width of the vent cover. I subsequently contacted my dealer and he said that they do not use the MaxxAir covers with the Ventline fans, they use Camco covers. This is what I installed. The attached pictures show the mounting brackets attached to the fan mounting tabs and also the cover attached. While they work I was still required to spread the cover to reach the bolts that hold them down. Hopefully this won't cause undue stress on the cover and cause it to break. Time will tell. In my opinion this all could easily be solved, by both cover manufacturers, by simply allowing allowing more transverse adjustment in the mounting brackets to account for the built-in mounting tabs. I am surprised to find that this is still a problem. I have read internet posts that are over 10 years old with folks discussing this issue and looking for solutions. Most responded that they just ground the mounting tabs off and drilled holes to mount the brackets to the side of the fans as shown in the instructions. Thank you for your time.
