Do You Carry a 7K Electric Brake with Parking Brake Levers? Difference Between 023-112 & 023-180?

Updated 09/04/2025 | Published 06/19/2025

Question:

Do the Dexter brake assemblies 023-180-00 and 023-181-00 have parking brake attachments on the back of the plate? Also, is the difference between the 023-112-00 and 023-180-00 just the axle weight?

Hello Tom,

The Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 7,000 lbs # 23-180-181 (023-180-00 and 023-181-00) do not have the parking brake lever. I do not see that Dexter makes the 7K brake with the lever, I confirmed this on their site.

They do however have a 6K, the Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes - Parking Brake Ready - 12" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 6K # 23-112-113 which is also a 12".

The difference between the 023-112-00 and 023-180-00 is the axle rating, but also the 023-180-00 does not have the parking brake, and the 023-112-00 does.

What are your axles rated for?

Hey Tom, Did the Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes with the parking brake work for your setup? I'm asking because your experience could help others who are trying to find the right brake assemblies for their trailers.

@KateF The trailer brake assemblies worked well. The brake controller had to be turned down they worked so well with the new shoes. The full assembly installation was quick and easy. Much simpler than shoes alone.

@TomW Awesome Tom! I am glad that they worked out so well that you had to turn your controller down.
