What Info is Needed to Pick Out Replacement Axles for Travel Trailer

Updated 06/16/2025 | Published 06/07/2025

Question:

Hello, I have a travel trailer with 2 alko p/n 405076ad axles. The empty trailer weighs 6,000 lbs so it is operating at the upper end of the axle capacity. Recognizing that it would not increase gvwr of the trailer I am looking for heavier replacement axles and springs that would be direct bolt in replacements if possible.

Hey Keith, so to pick out replacement axles it comes down to the dimensions of the axle you need and the capacity. The dimensions you need to know are the hub face to hub face dimension as well as the spring seat to spring seat dimension. If you can get me that I can see which axle would fit. Keep in mind we don't have every axle configuration so you may need to find a local trailer shop to you who can order them in.

For example the axle part # e83SR is a 7k axle that is 95 inches long overall and has 80 inches between spring seats.

Thank you for your help, I haven’t had a chance to pull the wheels to get hub measurements but from the axle tag it looks like 85/68.5

@Keith The tag info would be accurate enough to use. Unfortunately we don't have that axle configuration though so you'd have to check with a local trailer shop who can order in axles to the specs you need.
