What Is Needed To Install Crossbars On My 2025 Hyundai Elantra Base Model

Question:
Im not understanding how you get the crossbars on your car to install the bike rack. I have a 2025 Hyundai Elantra base model, not a hybrid and it doesnt have crossbars. I looked into having a hitch installed on my car but its too expensive for me. Would I need to take my car to a shop to have crossbars and other equipment put on before installing the roof rack?

Hey Tricia,
This is great, I drive the same exact car, just a year older! The crossbars for a roof rack use legs and a custom fit mounting clamp to go onto that vehicle. The clamps go in between the door jam near the rain gutter/seal. You definitely do not need to take it to a shop to install it. It took me around 20 minutes to get it all installed on a similar vehicle.
I recommend the Thule kit # TH69EG for your car. It is a great quality rack, and even though it may not look like it, it is the most cost friendly of the roof racks we carry for that vehicle. I am attaching a video of this rack being installed on an older model Elantra, but the install will be the same on yours. I just use my truck so I haven't gotten one for my Elantra, but it should give you a rough idea of what the process is like.
With that said, I am not sure what you were quoted for a hitch and bike rack but depending on the cost of that one may be a better option than the other. Let me know what you think of that roof rack and if you want to go another route I am happy to see what options we can come up with.
