Minimum Bar Height on Thule Xsporter Pro Adjustable Height Truck Bed Ladder Rack

Updated 09/12/2025 | Published 05/22/2025

Question:

What is the minimum bar height on this rack? We just bought a house with super low doors like, 76 and Im finally having to give up my ROLA racks. I need to know this will go low enough for me to drive in with my RTT installed.

Hi John, congratulations on the new house! The minimum bar heigh on the Thule Xsporter Pro Adjustable Height Truck Bed Ladder Rack # TH500XT depends on your truck bed. The uprights can basically go all the way down to the crossbars because they feed down through the feet as seen in the attached picture. The limiting factor is your truck.

You can measure from the top of the bed rails to down to the truck bed to see how far down you can drop the crossbars. The top of the crossbars sit 30" up from the top of the bed rail and the load stops are 34-3/4" from the top of the bed rail when fully extended. Subtract your measurement to see how low they can go. Make sure you account for anything sticking out from the sides of the bed that might interfere as well. I'm fairly confident you will be able to lower the rack enough to get into the garage.

Hey John, did you have a chance to measure from the top of your truck bed rails to see how low you can set the crossbars? I'm eager to know if you were able to adjust the rack to fit into your garage with your rooftop tent installed. Your experience could really help others in a similar situation!

@RobinH I didn't understand your message correctly when I first read it, but now I do. I'll measure, but if the vertical posts can go as low as the truck bed, I imagine this would work for me. It would be easier to raise and lower the tent while it's on these bars than it would be to uninstall and reinstall. I'll try to get measurements made, but the F150 has a really deep bed so I imagine this should drop all the way to the rails.
