Question:
I would like to convert my hand cranked sidewinder directly welded to a drill operator. It is a 1/2” dia. shaft in a common gear housing the same in appearance as 2K-TJO-2002S-B or Trailer Valet JXS 2K-TV34FR except crank is one piece. My jack is a Canadian brand, IronWorks Industries, square 7K. I am trying find a crank shaft that is at least close -I can drill a new gear pin hole.

Hello Jeffrey,
I cannot recommend modifying your jack to go against how the manufacturer says to use their product.
With that said I can't recommend that you use a socket adapter like the Ultra-Fab Speed Socket Power Drill Adapter for Scissor Jacks part # UF48-979005 because it is outside of the typical use of the jack defined by the manufacturer.
If you were to cut the handle of the jack, thread it, screw on a nut that had a 3/4" or 19mm head on it and weld that on to the shaft of the handle it would allow you to use the adapter with the jack to operate it. But of course this would void the warranty given by IronWorks.
So in this case I would need to recommend that you swap out the entire jack for the Trailer Valet JXS Drill Powered Drop Leg Trailer Jack w/ Footplate - Sidewind - Side Mount - 7K # TV36FR since you can use a drill with it.
Let me know how it works out.

Thank you for the response. Changing out the jack is not a practical option for this new aluminum trailer: the IronWorks jack is directly welded to a large, thick piece of steel plate that is bolted to the aluminum beam. The cost to have someone cut the jack off of the plate and weld a new jack on it is far beyond what I have in mind. Again, thank you.
