Replacement Brake Assemblies to Fit Lippert 4,400 lb Trailer Axles

Updated 09/26/2025 | Published 04/25/2025

Question:

I have a Lippert 4400 lb axle photo attached and need new brakes. There is a lot of confusion out there regarding this LCI configuration since it is a hybrid of 3500lb parts and 4400 lb parts. After reading thru etrailer QandAs, it appears that my axle may accept the upgradedinch 4400lb Lippert brake assembly LC66WD. But the Dexter 4400lb K23-462-463-00 would not fit due to a different mounting flange bolt pattern? Or does my axle not accept either of these 4400lb brakes and I have to stick with the 3500lb assembly. Please advise.

Hey Dave, yeah the 4,400 lb trailer axles are pretty annoying because unlike basically all other capacity axles they do not follow an industry standard between brands. So because you have a Lippert 4,400 lb axle the correct assemblies would be the part # LC66WD which was designed for what you have.

Hey Dave, did the Lippert 4400 lb brake assembly work out for your axle? I'm asking because it could help others facing the same confusion with their trailer axles.
